8 week evening course or 2 weekends
Draped clothes are not stitched or cut to fit, but wrapped around the body, using simple panels of cloth arranged according to the tastes and needs of the individual wearer. Drapery can be trim and practical, flowing and elegant, or anything in between. The student will learn the secrets of draping and how to follow the form of the body.
This fashion dressmaking course led by fashion designer Lena Santana is ideal for those people who have attended one of her introductory sewing courses or already have a little previous sewing know-how.
During the eight weeks, Lena will help you to perfect your basic sewing skills, and demonstrate the concept of draping on the stand, enabling you to create your own patterns and garments.
On this course you will...
• Perfect existing sewing skills
• Create shape with darts and seams, add waistbands, button holes and pockets to garments
• Learn the basic concept of draping using a dummy
• Transfer draping on a stand to paper, to create your own patterns
• Make a lined dress, a top and/or tailored pocket dress
